Goretex Transalpine Run 2011 Photographs

Magnificent 250km run over the Alps from Germany to Italy over 8 days. Russell and Denise Maylin enter as a mixed team, experiencing highs and lows. Magnificent and tough off road running at altitude with great athletes for company. Organisers unfortunately set up some average and some absolutely appalling accommodation and food during the week. Scuol is a standoubt for the negative.... however...

Leadville Trail 100 miler 2010 - Part 2

And so, with my weight down to 77.59 kgs or 170.7 lbs, I found myself once again wandering the dark streets at 0300 on Aug 21st heading to race start in the middle of 'town' corner 6th and Harrison. Once again my wife and I grabbed a coffee from the shop near the start and sat down relaxing.

Leadville Trail 100 miler 2010 - Part 1

One of my favourite races. The altitudes of 10,000 to 12,500 feet in the mountains around Leadville, Colorado make this a very testing run for those living at sea level. The athlete, in my opinion, must be well prepared for this element and plan acclimatisation. Having said this its just a great race and a true test for the endurance off road runner.
